Things to do this festive season

One of the best parts of the Christmas period can be how it allows families and friends to come together for food, drink, and merriment.

This time can be that much sweeter when you know that everyone will be enjoying some well-earned time off from work and school, allowing you all to really unwind.

Rather than spending part of that in the kitchen, why not make some wonderful new memories and experiences with your loved ones?  What could be more relaxing than spending your holiday by some beautiful, sandy coastlines?

You can take the pressure off of the designated chef in your household with a carvery lunch at Gwel an Mor. Swap out your kitchen for a rustic barn setting, akin to something out of a Christmas movie, and a delicious three course meal.

That’s the food sorted, but what about families? Those with young children may want something that will captivate small minds.

For some free fun, visit one of Cornwall’s beaches. You certainly have enough to choose from, with over 300 available spanning at least 250 miles of coastline! Although the weather might be cold, a walk along the beach spending time with loved ones can be a welcome break from the usual bustle of daily life. Our resort itself is near the amazing Portreath beach, which received a 2021 UK Seaside Award.

As you stare out across the sea, you might hope to spot a sign of wildlife.  Or you could treat your family to a day trip at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. Hearts are guaranteed to melt at the sight of seals nursing their young pups.

Watching Christmas lights brings a lot of festive cheer. Watching the lights in the village of Mousehole are certainly no exception. Forget your boring Christmas light strips, Mousehole pulls out all the stops to create a number of intricate designs. See if you can work out what they all are.

As Christmas Day approaches, you might remember that you forgot to pick up some gifts. Would it really be Christmas without a last-minute present dash? Fowey Christmas market can help you! Rather than buying the same toiletry gift boxes and sweet selections that you choose every year, why not treat your friends and family to a stocking filled with bespoke items and handmade produce instead?

If tranquillity is on your wish list this year, join us in Cornwall for a very Merry Christmas.
