New Air Ambulance Takes to the Skies

The brand new Cornwall Air Ambulance helicopter is now up and running, working hard to save even more lives with its amazing technology

Up, Up & Away!

Cornwall Air Ambulance’s new arrival – the impressive Leonardo AW169 helicopter – has enjoyed its first few days of work, after taking to the skies in place of the old MD 902 Explorer.

The new helicopter will help the charity to reach even more people in need faster than ever before and will mean that critical care paramedics will be able to save more lives.

Barbara Sharples, Trustee and Chair of the New Heli Appeal, had the following to say:

“It is with immense gratitude and pride that I thank the wonderful people, businesses and communities of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and beyond. So many have dontaed so much. Today is a moment that will ensure Cornwall Air Ambulance saves even more lives in the future. A moment for our county to feel proud.”

She continued: “Like many local businesses, the team at Gwel an Mor helped us to achieve our dream of launching the new helicopter! We’re looking forward to welcoming Gwel to visit the new helicopter in the hanger as soon as the coronavirus pandemic is under control.”

We also wanted to add that we’re very proud to have been able to play a role in the fundraising efforts, with everyone from our staff to our guests all going above and beyond to support the Heli Appeal.
