Since it first came to our screens in 2004, the TV comedy drama series Doc Martin has proved to be hugely popular and regularly attracts audiences of over 10 million viewers per episode. There are fans of the series and its star, Martin Clunes, right around the world – and many light-heartedly refer to themselves as "Clunatics"!
We have teamed up with an expert guide to bring you a fun and fascinating Doc Martin Tour which will take you right to the heart of the locations in Cornwall, the county in England made famous by the TV series. The focal point of the tour will be the lovely fishing village of Port Isaac, which is the setting for the fictional town of Portwenn in the series, but we will also include a number of other filming locations that have featured in Doc Martin.
You will be collected from Gwel an Mor Resort at 9am in your choice of a 6 seater Ford Galaxy or a BMW 5 Series Estate (seats up to three passengers). It is a fixed price, regardless of the number of guests, so the more people in your party, the better the value!
The trip will last around 8 hours, so you will be whisked back to Gwel an Mor Resort at around 5pm.
We can provide a Cornish Picnic Hamper (bookable in advance) for you to take with you, or there are lovely pubs where you can stop for lunch if you prefer.
Doc Martin Tour Itinerary:
We head north from Gwel an Mor Resort to spend the main part of the day in Port Isaac/"Portwenn". Here you will be shown around many settings that you will immediately recognise from the Doc Martin series, including:
Port Isaac is a fascinating place in its own right and you will have plenty of time to explore its cobbled streets and pretty lanes and to take in the glorious sea views. It is also home to the narrowest public thoroughfare in the country, Squeeze-ee Belly Alley, which at one point is only 18 inches wide!
Later, we will visit the nearby bay of Port Gaverne, a beautiful location where many exterior scenes have been filmed for Doc Martin. Then, we will call in at The Old Inn, St Breward, which was the location for the exciting finale of Series 4 – the sudden delivery of Doc Martin and Louisa's baby. This will also give you a chance to see some of the dramatic scenery of Bodmin Moor, which has figured prominently in the Doc Martin series.
We will also visit Pencarrow House, near Bodmin, a gorgeous historic house and the scene of Doc Martin and Louisa's first date, a classical music concert.
