This year the big day itself is on the Sunday, so you can
really make a weekend of it with a short, romantic break in Cornwall. How about
staying here at Gwel an Mor? Luxurious self catering lodges with hot tubs and
log burners – it really doesn’t get any more romantic than that!
A Coastal Walk – There are few things that compare to
a break in Cornwall for Valentine’s Day accompanied with walking the
glorious Cornish coast path. Although we probably aren’t impartial, we highly
recommend Portreath to Godrevy, taking in the breathtaking North Cliffs,
Bassett’s Cove and Hell’s Mouth. A more gentle approach can be adopted walking
from Lelant (from St Uny) to the picturesque fishing village of St Ives.
Get your heart rate going – No. We know what you are
thinking. There are plenty of other adrenalin experiences to share with that
someone special here in Cornwall. Jump off a cliff at Adrenalin Quarry, fly
over the Eden Project on a zip line, hit the surf or try your hand at
coasteering. Share an experience with the one you love and reward yourselves
after your extreme escapades with a romantic candlelit dinner!
Learn together – You can combine a coastal or
countryside walk with a bit of knowledge and food here in Cornwall. Try your
hand at foraging at any number of excellent locations. Try the Fat Hen,
Philleigh Way or 7th Rise for a truly unique experience. You should
be able to cook up a storm for your other half once you are done too!
Buy your partner a special gift- Not for the faint of
heart this one. Head into Truro for a spot of shopping, or perhaps stroll
through Falmouth, St Ives or Fowey to take in the wares of the smaller, more
quirky independent shops and producers. In St Ives you can find jewellers who
will help you to make a ring for your loved one!
Eat out – There are an awful lot of great restaurants
in Cornwall. We are going to recommend The Terrace here at Gwel an Mor (yes, of
course we were going to!) Throughout Valentine’s weekend, our chef and his team
will be delivering an incredible ‘sharing menu’, including simple, romantic
dishes you can share. Starters including either a Meat and Fish or Vegetarian
Sharing Board, mains of Fillet of Beef or Vegetarian Wellington followed by an
amazing Terrace Sweet Sharing platter.
