Our Lodges

‘May’ there be music (and other entertainment!)

If you are on holiday in Cornwall during May we have a few recommendations for you.  We pride our self on our award winning customer service, so we extend this to guiding you to the best entertainment that Cornwall has to offer. Although there is plenty to explore in terms of beaches, countryside and coastal paths we’d like to recommend a few festivals and places to let your hair down.

May sees the start of the British ‘festival’ season and Cornwall is no different. If you want to visit any of the below events and festivals but don’t fancy camping then book yourself a luxury lodge in Cornwall with us. At the end of the day return to your own bubbling hot tub, sleep in comfortable surroundings and recharge your batteries ready for a new day.

As an introduction to festivals how about a stroll around St Ives Food and Drink Festival? There will be some music offerings alongside the multitude of incredible Cornish producers and chef demos from acclaimed local and national cooks. Taking place on the beautiful Porthminster beach you’ll be able to sample some of the finest food in Cornwall whilst taking in the amazing atmosphere of St Ives.

If you’re after something a little more ‘party based’ then you might want to consider the Masked Ball, at Porthleven on 20th – 22nd May. Over two nights you’ll be able to get a groove on to some of dance music’s best artists, including Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada. It tends to be a lavish affair with a real party atmosphere.

For a more family-friendly party you could try the Don’t Wake the Fish festival at renowned eatery/pub The Gurnard’s Head near Zennor in the far reaches of West Cornwall. Having grown out of a beer festival you’ll find a selection of the counties finest craft ale, awesome local bands, kid’s entertainment and incredible food. You can camp, or visit for a day too. The festival runs from 27th – 29th May.

The most coveted festival in Cornwall in May is Tunes in the Dunes. The format is very much the same as any of the leading large festivals throughout the UK, with three days of music and entertainment by the sea in Perranporth. This year headliners include Dizzee Rascal, The Waterboys and James Morrison. Have a boogie by the sea from 27th to 29th May.

At the end of the month a different, more cultural and relaxed festival takes place. Open Studios in Cornwall whilst strictly not a festival gives access to artists’ studios across the county. It celebrates the creative work of painters, sculptors, photographers and more and allows you the chance to meet the people behind art in Cornwall. It is well worth planning a route around the county to take in your favourites!
