Our Lodges

June in Cornwall

As summer begins we are starting to look forward to lots of beach time with family and friends and evening BBQs. Summer also signals the start of an incredible calendar of events to suit all tastes and ages, so read on for some of our favourites for holidays in Cornwall in June 2017.

Fal River Festival (26th May – 4th

This community focussed festival is based on and around the
River Fal at Falmouth, around 25-minutes from our home in Portreath. Into its
12th year the festival celebrates life on the river and there’ll be
plenty of opportunity to get out on the water and take in music and
entertainment at many locations.

Open Studios Cornwall (26th May – 4th

Get up close and personal with artists across Cornwall with
Open Studios Cornwall 2017. Artists, craftsmen and creators throw open their
studio doors so you can see how they work, get inspired and perhaps pick up some
new skills, knowledge and pieces of art along the way.

Live in the Wyldes (26th – 28th May)

In Bude Live in the Wyldes will host three one-off music
shows across the Bank Holiday weekend. Grab some tickets to see Rag and Bone
Man or Chase and Status and dance the evening away with family and friends.

Great Estate Festival (2nd – 4th June)

A new festival a short drive from Gwel an Mor at Scorrier
House. The event promises to be a most ‘rambunctious garden fete’ and asks
visitors to expect the unexpected! Sounds like a lot of fun to us, plus there
is music from the likes of Echo and the Bunnymen and Craig Charles will be
spinning funk music for festival goers.

Royal Cornwall Show (8th – 10th June)

This is one of the most anticipated events in Cornwall every
year.  The Royal Cornwall show is a real
institution and a true celebration of agriculture and countryside living here
in Cornwall. There will be shows, stalls, entertainment and more across the
weekend and this is a truly family event and an amazing day out.

The Eden Sessions (15th – 23rd June)

Enjoy some of the best bands and music out there at the
world famous Eden Project. The biomes create a stunning backdrop to a night of
musical entertainment. This year you can enjoy Blondie, Bastille, Royal Blood
and Madness – although some of these events have almost entirely sold out so
you’d need to be quick! Eden Sessions gigs never fail to impress and make for
an amazing night out.

Mazey Day (Saturday 24th June)

Mazey Day is the flagship day of entertainment at the end of
Golowan Festival in Penzance. The festival itself runs from 16th
25th June and is a real community event that celebrates the arrival
of summer. On Mazey Day the town of Penzance gears up for a party, with
processions, music and entertainment filling the streets and gigs into the
night across the town’s pubs and clubs.

Swellboard Shootout (11th June)

St Ives Surf School host there annual Swellboard Shootout at
the stunning Porthmeor beach in St Ives. With the Tate Gallery as the backdrop
teams of four surfers compete in fancy dress to be crowned champions. It’s a
fun day with live music on the beach and some rather fetching fancy dress
get-up. Soak up the fun and enjoy the beautiful seaside town of St Ives.

Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival (16th – 18th

This is a free festival in Falmouth that celebrates the
music of the sea. There is plenty of maritime inspired entertainment as well as
a beer tent and a full programme of events and sea shanty acts across the town.
Sit back and enjoy the sounds of the sea accompanied with an ale or two from a
local brewer.
