Five essentials for a magical Christmas break in Cornwall

Not sure about going away at Christmas? Here's why you should indulge in a relaxing festive break

The festive season is always spectacular in this part of the world and Christmas and New Year 2018 will be no exception! Here is our round-up of five activities you shouldn’t miss when you come to Landal Gwel an Mor for your special Christmas break or New Year Break.

1. Stunning Christmas Lights

See the wonderful harbour lights at the pretty village of Mousehole, in a unique festival that has been running for over 50 years. In Truro, the City of Lights festival features an amazing lantern procession and the biggest lights switch-on outside of London. Or visit the new After Dark experience at The Eden Project, to see the massive biomes illuminated with giant projections, combined with light sculptures and music.

2. Dazzling Christmas Markets

Short breaks in Cornwall make it easy to pick up those special Christmas gifts. Fowey Christmas Market features arts and crafts, local food and drink, festive gifts, music and entertainment for all the family. Truro Winter Gift Fayre is a brand new Christmas market for 2018, with quality festive treats and gifts, in a setting with evergreens, natural wood and twinkling lights. Mount Edgcumbe Christmas Fayre is set in the grounds of Mount Edgcumbe County Park and features inspirational cookery demonstrations from leading west country chefs, local produce and craft and gift stalls. And on 24th and 25th November, we’ll host a Christmas Fayre right here at Landal Gwel an Mor.

3. Fantastic Festivals & Perfect Pantos

Once again, the lovely town of Lostwithiel will host their sparkling Dickensian Evening, with Victorian dress, lantern parades, marching bands, stalls and festive food and drink. Food lovers will gather in Padstow for their Christmas Festival, which includes harbour lights, cookery demonstrations, food stalls and fireworks.

For Christmas 2018, the hugely talented Miracle Theatre Company will be staging Aladdin at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth. Come and share their unique interpretation of the famous oriental fairy-tale. Brace yourselves for all the fun of traditional panto and a whole lot more!

4. Meet Santa…& his Reindeer!

For Christmas 2018, Santa will be coming to Landal Gwel an Mor and bringing two real reindeer with him. Visit him in his Grotto, where every child will receive a gift from Santa and a return ticket for Base Camp. A great opportunity to take some perfect Christmas photos.
