Fantastic places to see in the New Year in Cornwall

St Ives – This iconic seaside town comes alive on New Year’s Eve. Thousands flock to the town for its atmosphere. The harbour side and surrounding cobbled streets are filled with music and frivolities as the strike of the bells draws nearer. You need to be early to get a table as most of restaurants won’t take bookings for the night, but if you get a seat in one of the best spots, The Hub or The Sloop Inn, then you are sure to have a great night. The roads are closed to traffic and fancy dress is encouraged, to keep the party atmosphere.  St Ives is one of the best spots in Cornwall to see in the New Year, with fireworks at midnight and plenty of bars to continue the party into the early hours of 2016!

Looe – Much like St Ives, Looe is a pretty fishing village with a reputation for a great party. The streets are closed and the pubs and restaurants are full, with fancy dress adding to the occasion. To keep both families and revellers happy Looe has two fireworks displays! For those going home early there is a display at 6pm and then a second at midnight. The aim of the game is to find a spot, either on the street or in one of many lovely pubs, and soak in the atmosphere for the whole night.

Newquay – For the younger generations, or the more inclined to party, Newquay is a must. The town offers so many options, from pubs to restaurants and bars to night clubs. The town is perfect for grand celebrations and you’ll be sure to have a great night, capped off with the most fantastic half an hour long firework display at midnight – it really is something special! If you want to dance your way into 2016 then you can’t go far wrong with a night out in Newquay!

A local pub – Cornwall is full of beautiful villages and quaint countryside pubs. Why not head off the beaten track and find your own slice of heaven to see in the New Year? Ask around and you’ll find recommendations for places with good food, fine wine and live music to see in the start of 2016. We’d love to name a few, but that would take the fun out of it! Although, if you are staying with us here at Gwel an Mor I’m sure we can point you in the right direction!
