Our Lodges

Cider in Cornwall

Is there a better way to end a hot day on the beach than
with a glass of nicely chilled Cornish Cider? We’re not convinced there is.
Cornwall is home to incredible food and drink producers and has a reputation
for great food and many visit the county for this reason as well as the beaches
and coast. We are really rather fond of an evening cider here at Gwel an Mor,
enjoyed on The Terrace or the balcony of our luxury lodge in Cornwall.

Here are a few notable local ciders worth testing your taste
buds with….

Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm

Just 20-minutes from us you’ll find Healey’s Cornish Cyder
Farm. Home to well renowned Corish Gold (we see this on draught in The Terrace)
and Rattler the cyder farm hosts tours and events for the whole family. In
September they also host a music festival which is well attended and great fun.
Healey’s lead the pack for Cornish cider and we certainly enjoy a pint at the
end of the day!

Cornish Orchards

Based at Duloe near Liskeard Cornish Orchard’s has a
reputation for full flavoured premium ciders. They are stocked throughout
Cornwall and worth hunting down as a truly Cornish cider. We are particularly
fond of the Blush Cider, a sparkling, light cider with Raspberries and Apple.
Perfect refreshment.

Polgoon Cider & Vinyard

On the outskirts of Penzance you’ll find Polgoon. Here you
can take tours and sample award winning wines and ciders still pressed and
bottled by hand. Polgoon’s artisan wines and ciders have a great reputation and
we really enjoy the sparkling avals. The tours here are a great way to spend an
afternoon in the sun and you can stock up in the shop before you leave.

St Ives Cider

A great family business based out of the beautiful St Ives.
The team here produce some excellent ciders and can often be found demonstrating
the process of making cider at local events like Apple Day at Trevaskis Farm.
Our personal favourite is Clodgy, a more traditional cloudy cider.

Haywood Farm Cider

Haywood Farm has been producing cider for 14-years and crafts
some really delicious traditional cider. Sunday Cider Socials are hosted
throughout the summer where you can enjoy the great produce and also enjoy some
local live music and entertainment. You can buy cider from the farm in 10 and
20 litre bags. This is a great local experience!
