Feadon Farm is right next door to the holiday lodges and it is an amazing place where both children and adults can get up close and personal to wildlife, as diverse as reindeer and badgers. In fact, so far as we know, it is the only place in the UK where you can even hand feed foxes. Meeting our rescued foxes, Todd and Meadow, is a highlight of any visit to Gwel an Mor and will be a lasting memory from your short breaks. Cornwall is a wildlife wonderland and so it's the perfect place to discover more about nature and the environment.
At Gwel an Mor, we are passionate about protecting the environment. Thats why we not only carry out recycling, energy conservation and community support, we have also developed our very own non-profit Wildlife Centre at Feadon Farm, one of the most illuminating wildlife centres you will find anywhere in the UK.
There are a great choice of wildlife activities on offer, including our Wildlife Experience, Nature Trail Safari, Falconry, Night Walks and Rock Pooling.
The passion and enthusiasm of Gary Zammit, our wildlife celebrity and wildlife ranger, is infectious. He knows everything there is to know about wildlife activities and our local marine habitat in Cornwall.
Wildlife Experience.
Join the adventure of a woodland safari, you will meet some of the local wildlife, before meeting our rescued foxes. You can even fly birds of prey. With all sorts of rescued wildlife coming in, who knows what other creatures you might meet!
Nature Trail Safari
Enjoy a visit to our secret pond and search for the creatures that live there, including frogs, toads and some quite amazing insects. You are bound to find lots of other wildlife on our woodland walk, before meeting our famous Gwel an Mor reindeer.
Rock Pooling
You can enjoy this classic seaside pastime with a twist all of our own. Rock pooling is always fun but Gary adds a new dimension. Get a fresh new perspective on Hermit Crabs, Starfish and Sea Hares and whatever else turns up on the day, you might even see a seal and catch a glimpse of a dolphin.
Falconry
We have Harry the Harris Hawk and Sly the Barn Owl as well as other beautiful birds of prey. Gary will talk you through the history of falconry, explain the equipment used and after a demonstration, you will have a chance to fly the birds yourself (recommended for ages 8 years and upwards). Don't forget to bring your camera this is a wildlife experience you will definitely want to capture on film.
Night walk
So much wildlife comes alive only at night. A night lamp and a little expert know how from Gary reveals this hidden and magical world to you. We will look for badgers, owls, deer and foxes. If the wild foxes don't show up, don't worry as you will be sure to meet our own rescued foxes, Todd and Sonny.
