Here at Gwel an Mor we are lucky enough to be situated near some of the most highly recommended beaches in Cornwall....
The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) campaigns to stop sewage pollution getting onto our beaches. The site lists every UK bathing beach, but only recommends beaches with the best water quality.
As keen conservationists ourselves (especially with everything we do at Feadon Farm Wildlife Centre)we feel the work that MCS do fits with our own ethos and we appreciate how very important it is to secure a future for our living seas.
A couple near to us are among the assessed MCS beaches.
Our local beach, Portreath is MCS recommended.
As well as this Portreath was assessed by the environmental agency not long ago and the data showed that it had not dropped below the agencies 'highest standard'.
We all love our beach and Gwel an Mor works hard to support the local community on environmental issues. It is nice to see that we can now boast not only that we have a beautiful beach, but it also has some of the highest standards of water quality in Europe!
A 15-20 minute drive along the coast from us is Godrevy beach, also MCS recommended
