A ray of culinary sunshine - introducing our new menu

Joe joined team Gwel earlier this year as Executive Head Chef, bringing with him creative flair and dynamic dishes.  Think tapas, sharing platters and sunsets across the sea and you’ll imagine the fantastic new selection. Click here to see the menu in full.

Spanish-born, but classically French-trained Joe has taken influences from his heritage in North West Spain and has put together a menu that will delight the senses and warm the cockles.

With a host of classical dishes with a twist, such as beef stroganoff and piripiri chicken as well as home-made pizzas complimenting the tapas selection, there is something to suit all moods.

At the Terrace, which is open daily to everyone, we pride ourselves on our selection of only the best ingredients, locally sourced when possible and of course as fresh as can be. 

Joe said: “We are delighted to be working with some of the finest local producers allowing us to offer the fresh, vibrant dishes made on site.  We are sure that our tapas and sharing boards will be a massive hit with visitors and locals alike.  Whether it’s a romantic meal or a family coming back from a day on the beach, they add a fantastic social element to enjoying great food together.

Joe has previously worked at a number of prestigious Cornish hotels, as well as the Tate Modern in London. 

“When I was asked to develop the new menu I took a lot of time making sure it was just right.  It's a huge departure from what The Terrace is known for.  From the dishes right down to the design of the menu we’re making sure that Gwel an Mor is going to make its mark on Cornwall’s culinary map.”

Despite a busy season ahead with the restaurant Joe has also turned his attention to the ‘Take Away’ menu. Developed for our guests, Joe has also revamped the menu to now offer a mouth-watering selection of hand-made pizzas. The good news is that these are available to non-residents too, just ring to place your order on 01209 844132 - it will be cooked fresh, with home-made dough and ready for your collection.  It's a perfect weekly treat.

And we're delighted to say that Joe has big plans for diners here at Gwel an Mor, his next big project being our Events Barn, our larger gathering space perfect for functions and weddings. Watch this space!
