Finding dog friendly holiday in Cornwall at a 5 star standard can be a real struggle though, however here at Gwel an Mor we offer 5 star allocated lodges specifically for those who want to holiday with their hound!
Within walking distance to us there is the Portreath tram road; bursting with industrial and natural history, it was the first of its kind in Cornwall, linking tin and copper mining areas with the harbour at Portreath. It also links up to the trail to Deveron, perfect if you want a longer walk. Watch out for those runners though, probably best to keep your dog on a lead for this one if he has a tendency to chase after them like my one does!
Alternatively there is a huge selection of beaches where they can really stretch their legs, many of which allow dogs all year round, a list can be found here www.thecornishcoast.co.uk. Prepare for one very sandy (and possibly wet if he fancied a paddle) dog after though, but fear not there is ‘Pampered Paws’ a dog grooming parlour just down the road, perfect to get him looking in tip top condition again, www.pamperedpawsportreath.co.uk.
Also for a small charge we can arrange for a maid service in our pet friendly accommodation in Cornwall if he does bring half the beach in!
The beautiful Tehidy Woods, a real social spot for dogs to meet, is a short walk away from us with lots of trails to discover, the woods are magic at anytime of the year but particularly spectacular in spring.
There are many other walks which emit from Gwel an Mor and we can provide you with a leaflet of walks tested by our gardener and her dog Flash.
Whichever walks you choose you are likely have a very tired dog by the end of it, who will happily curl up in front of a wood burner in your cosy lodge for the rest of the evening I’m sure…the Cornish air really takes it out of them!
The countryside is the best place to enjoy with your dog and here in Cornwall there is plenty of it. Our pet friendly lodges in Cornwall provides the perfect base for you all to explore this beautiful county from together…woof woof
