Here at Gwel an Mor we’re proud to announce that we’ve scooped gold in the “Holiday Park and Holiday Village of the Year” category at the 2011 Cornwall Tourism Awards. If that wasn’t enough our exceptional team has been given a special award – “Outstanding Customer Service” – thanks to way we look after our guests.
The 10th annual Cornwall Tourism Awards, organised by VisitCornwall, was held at St Mellion International Resort on 10th November and celebrated the best that the county has to offer when it comes to making people’s holidays special. The bar gets raised very year in terms of the standard of entrants, which is great for the Cornish economy and if we’re winning awards shows our commitment to excellence.
Malcolm Bell, Head of Tourism, explained: “In this year’s Cornwall Tourism Awards I don’t believe the judging could have been any tougher. When I was first involved in tourism 20 or so years ago the decisions were relatively easy and we were often deciding between good and mediocre. Now we are judging degrees of excellence, sometimes with very small or negligible differences between the entries – hence you’ll see this year that we have awarded several joint awards. Gold, silver and bronze winners alike should be immensely proud.”
As winners we will now go on to represent the county in the South West Regional Awards and ultimately the National Excellence Awards which take place next year, fingers crossed!
